 Royal Truck Bodies specialise in the custom design and manufacture of Aluminium, Chromadek, Tautliner, Lightweight GRP, Semi-Insulated GRP and Insulated GRP vehicle load bodies. Royal Truck Bodies was founded in November 1993 as a close corporation with a staff compliment of three founder members and six factory workers. Initial trading only encompassed the manufacture and repair of Aluminium and Chromadek load bodies from premises situated in Chris Street, Alrode.
By October 1994 the premises at Chris Street became too restrictive and the company relocated to its present address at 10/12 Dekenah Street, Alrode, Alberton.
In January 1997 Royal Truck Bodies purchased a fibreglass manufacturing entity called Fuelsaver Fibretruck and incorporated its operations into Royal Truck Bodies.The acquisition enabled Royal Truck Bodies to acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and client base to successfully enter the fibreglass transport market through the manufacture of various GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic or Fibreglass) products. Such products include load bodies, fuelsaver fairings for load bodies, GRP skins and panels, and various other industrial products. This proved to be a key growth area for the company.
